Hurt

Had a bad day and now I want to explain
Describe all the problems that came along the way
But who’s gonna listen to a complicated girl?

We’ve all got our own issues, cried into tissues
Moments we’d say, “You broke my heart, but I miss you”
So who is this one who expects to be heard?

I’m hurt
Society, don’t you care?
Should I be the only one aware of your faults?
I’m hurt
Can’t you empathize with me?
Would you rather just let the pain be?
I should’ve known you’d do nothing for me

Changed my clothes, put on a loose sweater
Something with a hood to hide me for the better
I’ll sit here with my radio and let the polyester dry my tears

Opened my diary, but I’m not sure how to describe
What it is exactly that’s going on deep inside
Wish I had grown thick-skinned throughout the years

I’m hurt
Society, don’t you care?
Should I be the only one aware of your faults?
I’m hurt
Can’t you empathize with me?
Would you rather just let the pain be?
I should’ve known you’d do nothing for me

Tried a little caffeine, took a short nap
Closed my eyes but my dream scared me after that
Pacing back and forth, dizzy in circles
Decide to sit down and face the facts
Bear it alone, it’s the format

I’m hurt
Society, don’t you care?
Should I be the only one aware of your faults?
I’m hurt
Can’t you empathize with me?
Would you rather just let the pain be?
I should’ve known you’d do nothing for me

Had a bad day and now I want to explain
Describe all the problems that came along the way
But who’s gonna listen to a complicated girl?
