Teenage Years

I’m baffled, I’m confused
Who am I?
Why the hell am I here?
I don’t know you that well
Still you expect me to unveil my secrets
No, I’m not telling you my name

If you want to go there, then go
I’m not coming with you
Why is that torch shining on me?
Move away, stay away, get away all you people
This is unfair
You’re in my personal space, don’t you care?

Ooh, teenage years
Questions, no answers
Ooh, frustrations
Losing patience
Such a difficult time in life

Who told you that?
Don’t believe all the gossip you hear
What’s that fellow up to?
Isn’t he queer?
Sh, my head’s hurting
Midlife migraines too early

No, no, I’m not doing that
Don’t give me your advice
No medications
Stupid doctors, what do they know?
I don’t need a psychologist
Just leave me alone

Ooh, teenage years
Questions, no answers
Ooh, frustrations
Losing patience
Such a difficult time in life

Stop staring, quit your glaring
Making mistakes, tripping, and falling
I’ll stand again, unsteady
I am, maybe not, perhaps, ready
When will this end?
When will I know?
Whatever I put you through, Mom and Dad
Don’t let me go

Ooh, teenage years
Questions, no answers
Ooh, frustrations
Losing patience
Such a difficult time in life
(x2)

'Tis the teenage life
