Broken Glass

I'm trying to put myself together for you

All of these pieces, what am I to do?

I know I can by myself, no doubt

I've done it before, picked them right off the floor

Every little crumb in the palm of my hand

Should I feel proud, should I feel grand?

I need some glue, will that work?

How long will it last before it cuts the past?

Broken heart, here's the pieces

Let me mend you alone

It's a puzzle I've put together many times before

Broken heart, here's the glue

One piece of glass to another

How many times will this repeat before it's ash?

Broken glass

I've heard countless stories about magic

Every time I dared to believe the ending was tragic

I cannot trust anything anymore

When I find it's a lie, my pulse is in an uproar

A heart of stone bleeds no blood

A heart of metal dents but doesn't break

A heart of wood can be hollow but floats in flood

But a heart of glass smashes by mistake

Broken heart, here's the pieces

Let me mend you alone

It's a puzzle I've put together many times before

Broken heart, here's the glue

One piece of glass to another

How many times will this repeat before it's ash?

Broken glass

Here it is, will you hold it carefully?

It's a thin layer around

Crystal glass, isn't it colorful?

Please don't let it fall to the ground

Have you ever heard the sound of your last beat?

Have you ever had to bear seeing your dreams by your feet

Crushed by the one you trusted most?

That's the consequence of letting someone too close

Broken heart, here's the pieces

Let me mend you alone

It's a puzzle I've put together many times before

Broken heart, here's the glue

One piece of glass to another

How many times will this repeat before it's ash?

Broken glass
