Do What You Think Is Right

See I started patrol when I was 20 years old

People glarin' at me when I gave a ticket, charged a toll

But it ain't my fault 'cause that's just how it goes

Do you're job and you're on a roll

Like the dice, it's nice, but sometimes the spice

In the recipe we're mixing or what they call life

Is full of people who expect and you start to regret

Not meeting the top, school's done, it's all set

There's no going back and I wouldn't even want to

It takes up so much of my life, too much to go through

Who wants to relive the pressure, that same damn clock

With those hands that don't turn fast enough?

And then those cliques, those fits, those tricks they play

Laughin' when you fall, and you wish you hadn't stayed

But Momma likes the house and Daddy say we can't afford

To move so in the end you lose

But no matter how far you fall, no matter how hard it is

Past, present, future, accept it as a gift

Life will throw you discomfort, trouble will follow

You'll feel the tears come, you feel so empty, so hollow

Don't let it take away, close your eyes and pray

Hope for a brighter day, don't listen to a word they say

Someday they'll know, until then just let it go

And do what you think is right, do what you think is right

Keep to the light

Do what you think it right, what you think is right

No need to be afraid of the night

Do what you think is right, do what you think is right

It'll get you along

Do what you think is right, what you think is right

There's consequence to wrong

I was at the bar reachin' in my pockets for a quarter

In the corner I saw a father strike his daughter

'Cause he's seen her with a guy he'd never met before

He grabbed him by the collar and threw him out the door

The girl screamed terrified and looked at me

But I was too frozen in past to act rationally

Remembering all the times I'd lied to my family

Sneakin' off and doin' things that they'd deprived of me

And just like this girl, when they found out

I was standin' there panic-stricken lookin' all about

For someone to give me an answer or tell me what to do

Because in that moment it's hard to separate lie from the truth

Still even in this time people treat me like I'm the same

As if I'm dealin' drugs, sleepin' with so many people

And leadin' a hundred, no a thousand rampages

But I've changed, why won't anyone get it?

It hurts so much that they can't move on or forget it

Sometimes I find myself sittin' in the corner of the room in the dark

Like a frightened child whose run from home

Shiverin' in the cold hopin' nobody will come

'Cause you feel like you wanna be all alone

And every little breeze is your past come to haunt you

Every little leaf that touches your hand is there to hurt you

So scared, so unprepared, 'cause no one understands

Livin' in your past, tellin' you your 'cans' and 'can'ts'

So your past was hell and they live on memory

Your present is now ruined 'cause your fakin' a smile painfully

And there goes your future, all the way, eternally

With all that judgment on your shoulder you're feelin' lonely

Someday they'll know, until then just let it go

Come Back

Come back to me, boy

I didn't mean what I said

When I said I don't need you

You know it's not true

'Cause you're my everythin'

You're my every dream too

Come-come-come-come back to me, boy

See when I'm watchin' the tv, I start flippin' through the channels

I'm hatin' them all, rather stare at the flannels

Than watch all these movies where the guy is kissin' his baby

While he's holdin' his lady, could this be us maybe?

Life's getting' kinda shady, I've been hurtin' so much lately

I'm missin' you greatly, could you come back and hold me?

Come back to me, boy

I didn't mean what I said

When I said I don't need you

You know it's not true

'Cause you're my everythin'

You're my every dream too

Come-come-come-come back to me, boy

I try to go shoppin' with the girls, we'd be poppin'

The champagne late at night, tryin' to make me feel right

But the girls bring all their guys, and they're holdin' them tight

I'm tryin' so hard to forget you with all my might

But even in my sleep, you're still in my sight

I'm battlin' with my memories, puttin' up a fight

But I know in the end, there's no point to pretend

That I don't miss you, that I don't need you

Come back to me, boy

I didn't mean what I said

When I said I don't need you

You know it's not true

'Cause you're my everythin'

You're my every dream too

Come-come-come-come back to me, boy

I decide to pack my bags and move out of state

Just when I'm at the airport, I know it's too late

You're already buried deep inside my heart

I swear nothin' hurts more than when we're apart

So I pace the ground floor, thinkin' plenty more

Replayin' the story of how this all ended sore

And if you can hear me, just know I'm so sorry

My heart's at unease, come back to me please

Come back to me, boy

I didn't mean what I said

When I said I don't need you

You know it's not true

'Cause you're my everythin'

You're my every dream too

Come-come-come-come back to me, boy

I don't know how else to say

How much I want you back with me

So this heart of mine won't beat in pain

It yearns for the rush of your love again and again

Please...come back into my arms

Come back to me, boy

I didn't mean what I said

When I said I don't need you

You know it's not true

'Cause you're my everythin'

You're my dream too

Come-come-come-come back to me, boy

Please, come back to me
